Research directions

June 30th, 1997, a decision of the Bureau of Informatics and Computer Science Branch was done which defined the main directions of fundamental scientific researches for IPPM RAS within the frames of the general direction of researches in the field of fundamental problems on creation of automation systems, mathematical methods of complex operating systems and processes research, for:
  • Theoretical researches of fundamental problems of complex CAD systems development;
  • Theoretical and applied researches of methods for conceptual design, structural synthesis, analysis and optimization of complex microelectronic systems.
  • Research and development of methodology and styles for design of integrated circuits with high complexity.

The approved basic directions of fundamental researches of institute full enough reflect key problems of a today's condition of design automation in the world and correspond to mainstreams of researches of leading foreign centres of science and firms.

Within the framework of the profile directions of activity, the basic domain of researches are presented below:

  • Development of circuit simulation methods.
  • Development of methodologies for design of photo-sensitive VLSI ICs.
  • Development in domain of logic design automation.
  • Works in the field of theoretical and applied researches of methods for conceptual design of complex microelectronic systems, including, the use of components with various physical nature.
  • Development in the field of design methodology for analog integrated circuits, including RF domain.

In May, 2000, the director of IPPM RAS Mr. Alexander Stempkovsky was selected to member-correspondent of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and in May, 2006 was selected to academician of RAS, that was a recognition not only his scientific merits, but also IPPM RAS achievements as a whole.
